Starhill Forest Arboretum will be hosting tours during September and October 2020.

An exhibition at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (UK) that will be of interest to IOS members: Mark Frith's breath-taking portraits highlight the architectural beauty of tree trunks, bark and branches in winter. This series of 20 highly intricate, large scale graphite drawings by Mark Frith depicts Britain’s most characterful veteran oaks, many of which are more than 1,000 years old.

The Morton Arboretum is organizing a meeting with ChenShan Botanical Garden in Shanghai on Fagaceae and Northofagaceae genetics.

The IOS has its 25th anniversary in 2017, and a superb way to celebrate it will be to get yourself to the Czech Republic in July where, during Oak Open Days based at his arboretum near Poděbrady, enthusiastic and dynamic IOS member Dušan Plaček is sponsoring a "Birthday Banquet" for participants at Poděbrady Castle.

The Oak Year, an artwork by Scottish artist Anne Gilchrist, will be showing for 2 days (27th and 28th August 2016) at Edinburgh Palette, 151 London Road, Edinburgh www.edinburghpalette.co.uk. It comprises 24 painted panels 5 ft × 4 ft and depicts portraits of many hundreds of oak leaves from real specimens from one oak wood on the shore of Loch Tay, Perthshire. It shows a whole year's worth of leaves, and the close observational depiction shows variety of shape, size, predation, autumn colors, first leaves, and winter fallen leaves.

The exhibition Standing the Test of Time: Kentucky's White Oak Basket Tradition opens September 16, 2016 at the Kentucky Museum on the campus of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA. It runs through January 31, 2017.

A two-day Oak Open Day (OOD) is planned for April 22-23, 2016 to visit Argentina’s two most notable oak arboreta.

Beginning in 1979, there have been a series of symposia held every 5 to 7 years addressing the state of our knowledge about science, policy and management factors affecting California’s oak resource. This upcoming program represents the 7th symposium in the series.
